(Learfield) The Minnesota Department of Public Safety says officers, deputies, and troopers statewide cited 678 drivers for violating the news hands-free law during its first week.

The most citations were written in Hennepin County (286). Ramsey County had 79 offenders and Dakota County 60.

The D-P-S is reminding motorists it is now illegal to hold your phone in your hand while driving in Minnesota.
