One Airlifted and another Injured in Crash Near Rushford

A mechanical issue caused to a crash that sent two people to the hospital Wednesday morning.
The Minnesota State Patrol says 40-year-old Amy Steinfeldt of Lanesboro was westbound on Highway 16 near Rushford when her truck experienced a mechanical issue that caused it to drift to the shoulder. Steinfeldt lost control and swerved into the eastbound lane where she hit an oncoming sedan.
The sedan was driven by Doug Baker, a 64-year-old Lanesboro man. Steinfeldt was airlifted to Gundersen in La Crosse with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Backer was taken by ambulance to Winona Health for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Both drivers were buckled and not under the influence of alcohol.
