​Gerald E. “Jerry” Ruhoff

Gerald E. “Jerry” Ruhoff, 81, of Altura died Thursday, March 28, 2019 at St. Anne Extended Healthcare in Winona. Jerry was born April 30, 1937 on the family farm at Rollingstone. In 1955 he graduated from Holy Trinity School in Rollingstone. Jerry later met Berniece Schloegel at a dance in Winona. They married on August 13, 1960 and farmed the Ruhoff family farm until moving to Altura in 1993. Jerry enjoyed bowling, playing cards with friends. In his retirement he enjoyed woodworking and putting puzzles together. He was fun-loving, caring and a hard worker. Jerry entered St. Anne’s in January.

Jerry was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Altura and the Knights of Columbus in Winona. He was a faithful fan of the Minnesota Twins.

Survivors include his wife Berniece, five children; Kevin (Kathie) Ruhoff of Lewiston, Keith Ruhoff of Hudson, WI, Renee (Ray) Stark of Altura, Carol Ruhoff of Rochester and Sue (Mark) Bredehoft of Wanamingo, seven grandchildren; Marshall, Grant, Trevor and Brandon Ruhoff, Rachael (Bob Mauer) Stark, Robyn and RaeAnn Stark, two step-grandchildren, Alyssa (Scott) Hundley and Abby Quaintance, three step-great-grandchildren, Ashton, Aven and Alden Quaintance and his three siblings; Pat (John) Meisch, Ron (Yvonne) Ruhoff and Rich (Jana) Ruhoff all of Altura. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shauna Ruhoff and his parents.

Visitation is from 5-8 Wednesday April 3rd at St. Anthony Church. A Funeral Mass for Jerry will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4th at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Altura with the Reverend Glenn Frerichs officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery at Oak Ridge. Friends may call at church from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 10 – 11 a.m. Thursday.
