(Learfield) Minnesotans should keep the bug spray handy now that the first human cases of West Nile virus have been confirmed.
The two cases were in Ramsey and Hennepin counties and about a month later than usual. Mike McLean with Metropolitan Mosquito Control says cases are most common primarily from the Twin Cities into the western part of the state and then into the Dakotas as well. He says the types of mosquitoes that spread West Nile virus do really well in prairie areas.
Mosquitoes get the virus by feeding on infected birds.
