(KWNO) Local law enforcement is warning the public of scammers looking to pounce on the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a woman impersonating a health official, asking to gain access to a resident’s home. Scammers have also offered COVID testing in exchange for money.
So far, no scams have been reported to the Winona County Sheriff’s Office. “Nobody from the department of health of the CDC would ever call or go to a person’s house,” said Winona County Chief Deputy Jeff Mueller.
Authorities remind citizens to not give out personal information. Anyone who experiences a possible COVID-19 scam is asked to call local law enforcement.
