(KWNO) Officials in Western Wisconsin say it’s too soon to know the impacts of mine wastewater that spilled into the Trempealeau River earlier this month.

The DNR is investigating a spill from a Jackson County Frac Sand mine that dumped around 400,000 gallons of mine waste into a tributary of the Trempealeau River. The Trempealeau River flows into the Mississippi River in between Winona and La Crosse.

No aquatic life has been affected. Testing on the water is underway with the results expected in a few weeks.
