(KWNO) The City of Winona and Winona Volunteer services are teaming up with the goal of distributing 1,200 boxes of food to area residents.
The final food drop of the year will take place at Lake Park on Friday.
“The USDA has been buying up food products from our farmers, ranchers, and crop producers. They’ve been helping get that food to people in need because their normal avenues to distribute this food were closed down,” WVS Director Sandra Burke told KWNO Tuesday.
Volunteers will distribute food starting at 10 a.m. on Lake Park Dr. Those participating will enter lake park through Hamilton St., receive their boxes near the Jaycee’s Pavilion, and exit the park on Franklin St.
Burke says food is available to anyone who shows up, no questions asked. She says the boxes contain meat, produce, and a dairy product.
