(KWNO) In light of an uptick of complaints, the Winona Police Department is refreshing the public on Minnesota fireworks laws.

The PD says fireworks that fly or explode are illegal in Minnesota. Examples of illegal fireworks are firecrackers, bottle rockets, Roman candles, and mortars.

Police are also reminding residents that legal fireworks cannot be set off on public property or areas that could pose a fire risk.
