(Learfield) The Minnesota Wild have dropped the interim label and made Dean Evason their permanent head coach.
He signed a two-year contract extension that runs through the 2021-22 season. Evason guided the team to an 8-4-and-0 record after taking over in February.
Minnesota is gearing up for the 24-team NHL postseason tournament, which will pit the Wild against the Vancouver Canucks in a best-of-five qualifying round series in Edmonton starting on August 2nd.
In roster news, the Wild signed top prospect Kirill Kaprizov to a two-year, entry-level contract. The Russian forward will not be eligible to play until next season.
