(KWNO) Winona native Arran Davis has been awarded Oxford University’s top recognition for student-athletes, the Full Blue Award, after finishing his career with three top 10 finishes in the javelin throw at the British Universities and Colleges (BUCS) Outdoor Athletics Championships.
As an undergraduate, Davis competed for South Dakota State University, where he was named an NCAA Division I Track & Field Academic All-American for his best javelin throw of 57.91 m (190 feet), which ranks fourth all-time at the University.
In 2015, the Cotter grad won the 141st instantiation of the Oxford-Cambridge Varsity Athletics Match, and later placed 1st in a combined meet pitting Oxford and Cambridge against Division I American rivals Harvard and Yale. He followed up these performances with runner-up finishes at the Oxford-Cambridge Varsity Athletics Match in 2016 and 2018.
Davis’ top 10 finishes at the BUCS Outdoor Athletics Championships came in 2015, 2018, and 2019. In February 2020, he was given a Full Blue Award at Oxford University’s Blues Presentation Evening.
